The City of Ventura and the Ventura Port District have been able to\nwork in concert with the US Army Corps of Engineers larger contract to do some\nmaintenance dredging within the Harbor. This creative and responsible option results\nin numerous efficiencies and cost savings. Details on the work that will affect your\ncommunity is listed below.\nProject Area: Pierpont Basin and Stub Channel (Ventura Keys Entrance)\nTentative Schedule:\n• This Weekend: (Saturday 2/23 & Sunday 2/24)\no Dredge support boats will be laying pipe and setting buoys.\n• Monday 2/25:\no The larger dredge will begin its work into the designated area.\no The Dredge will work from the Entrance into the stub channel area.\n• Tuesday 2/26:\no The focused stub channel work will be during the daytime hours.\no Completion of the dredging project is expected by Tuesday evening.\nImpact on Navigation:\n• During this period\, navigation out of the Ventura Keys may be hindered or\ntemporarily closed.\n• Monday afternoon and Tuesday (daytime hours) are critical times when you\nshould plan accordingly.\n• Boaters can contact the Harbor Patrol @ 805-642-8618 for assistance in\nfinding temporary berthing within the Harbor.\nSpecifics:\n• Work in the stub channel or entrance to Ventura Keys will occur only during\ndaytime hours for this phase of the project.\nWe appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this essential maintenance\nwork. DESCRIPTION:Ventura\, Calif. – The Ventura Police Department invites the community to enjoy ice cream\, shakes\, floats\,\nand friendly conversation at ‘Cones with a Cop.’ This sweet summertime event will be hosted on Tuesday\,\nJuly 23\, 2024\, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. at Coastal Cone\, located at 1583 Spinnaker Drive #104 in the Ventura\nHarbor. \nEngaging with the community is crucial year-round\, and with warmer weather and increased outdoor\nactivities\, it becomes an even better opportunity to support local businesses\, strengthen trust\, and meet\nVentura residents. \n“It’s not often that community members can enjoy a conversation with a police officer over ice cream; we’re\ntrying something new!” shared Police Chief Darin Schindler. “Whether you’re a curious resident seeking\npersonal safety tips\, a parent looking to get involved in community events\, or a student wanting to learn\nmore about a potential career\, this event is for you.
